Day Two of the 144th Open Championship started with the typical weather changes that come with almost every trip to the British Isles.
The 156 competitors were halted by a delay of more than 3 hours on Friday due to heavy rain and blustering winds, causing serious flooding around parts of The Old Course. When the day was done, 42 golfers remained on the course as darkness fell over St. Andrews.
Dustin Johnson still leads the tournament, but got through 13 holes in Round Two before play was suspended. The South Carolina native is currently 10-under for the tournament (-3 for the round), while playing partner Jordan Spieth sits tied for 15th at 5-under (even for the round. Hideki Matsuyama rounded out this particular playing group, and after birdieing 5 of the first 7 holes and shooting a front-9 30, he was charging as well, and was tied for 10th at 6-under (-6 for the round) at the suspension of play.

Irish amateur Paul Dunne has become a crowd favorite, surging to a 69-69 to finish today’s tied for 10th at -6, and will safely make the cut.
Notables:
Tiger Woods’ tee-time was also delayed because the rain; he would only get through 11 holes on his second round and is currently one-over.
The current cut line is at even par, where 83 players hold that score or better.
Sir Nick Faldo and Tom Watson said a final farewell to The Open Championship. Both received standing ovations and the requisite photo-ops as they crossed Swilcan Bridge on the 18th Hole. The 58-year old Faldo carded a 71 on his final round at St. Andrews, while 65-year old Watson (pictured below) scored an 80 in his final appearance. Faldo won three Opens over his career, while Watson won five Open Championships between 1975 and 1983.

Second round play is set to resume at 7 am local time (2 am eastern) and the third round is scheduled to follow. More rain is in the forecast, however, and there could be more suspensions if the weather continues to act up.
